Bruce Broughton
Published by aud February 13th, 2007 in A day in the lifeSaddly, most would not recognize this famous composers name, it’s true, they do work behind the scenes. I got to meet Bruce Broughton today (well.. sort of…) and he’s an amazingly nice and has a good sense of humor. He wrote the scores to The Rescuers Down Under, Tombstone, Silverado, Miracle on 34th Street, etc. I love his music, a lot of them are horn centered! I have some really beautiful parts… if only I could play them right (I’m so sad I got my teeth pulled, makes it a lot harder to play) but not only is his music gorgeous, I must say, I found his stories really funny.. though they would have been funnier if I could hear all of it. He actually got to meet the actress who does the voice for Bianca in the Rescuers Down Under, her name escapes me but she’s the actress in Green Acre, the silly wife XD. I have a feeling he wasn’t too impressed with our orchestras and he didn’t stay for any Q and A as Elmer Bernstien used to
It was really great working with him though, I’m excited for the concert.
Steve the french horn player also came in today, he’s a nice guy as well, teaches over at Mt. Sac. He’s an excellent player, though not as good as Jane or maybe Mrs. Cherry (our usual horn instructer over the summer), it was funny catching some of his mistakes
Miss Bianca is Zsa Zsa Gabor!
