Vicente

This story came from Samaritan’s Purse. After helping out with the 24 Hour Famine for the last 3 years, it’s kinda cool to see some of that put to use and see what just a little help can really do.

“Vicente was close to death. At six months old, his malnourished body was too weak to hold his head up. His mother, a widow suffering from HIV/AIDS, was equally fragile, barely able to hold her child in her frail arms. With no money or community support, she felt hopeless.

Throughout the world, HIV-positive people like this young mother are overwhelmed with physical, emotional, and spiritual pain. Prescription for Hope, the Samaritan’s Purse HIV/AIDS ministy, is working to combat this despai with the Good News of Jesus Christ.

We immediatly brought the woman and her baby to a hospital near their home in Donga, MOzamique, where they recieved food and medical care. When they returned home, their neighbors maarveled at the difference in Vicente’s health. “This child should have died,” Said one man. “Yet he is alive, looking healthy ad stron. What did you do?”

Our team used this oportunity to share the Gospel, and the community is already responding to our example of Christ’s unconditional love. Praise God for using a small child to bring the message of eternal hope to an entire village.”
