1,000 Kiriban!

Haha.. Just kidding. Until today, I never really knew what that meant. If your a DA fanatic like me, you woulda seen that word pop up on almost every site in people’s journals: next kiriban… thanks for the 1,000 kiriban… etc. At first I thought it was the counter or someway of like counting for a prize of somesort? Whenever a kiriban is hit, the person who gave them that last visit gets a gift, usually a commision, which in the art world is pretty precious. But I wasn’t realliy sure, and I hate it when I can’t put things in words. So, wondering what it was, I looked it up!

A web counter or hit counter is a computer software program that indicates the number of visitors, or hits, a particular webpage has received. Once set up, these counters will be incremented by one every time the web page is accessed in a web browser.

Ah-ha! So I was right! But isn’t it nice when you can put things in words that make sense? Anyway, that was pretty cool.. except for the one thing that caught my eye…

At one time it was common to see a hit counter on every page, but this is no longer the case for several reasons:

Too small a number might indicate the page’s lack of popularity. Removing the counter thus levels the playing field. (this is the one that caught my eye)

poopoo.. that’s how I feel about my hit counter on DA, wish it would go away so I could feel better about myself :D
