Uber Procrastination
Published by aud April 17th, 2006 in What's that?Procrastination is the deferment or avoidance of an action or task which requires completion by focusing on some other action or task. For the person procrastinating, this can result in a loss of productivity, stress and a sense of guilt. While it is normal for individuals to procrastinate to some degree, it becomes a problem when it impedes normal functioning. Chronic procrastination may be a sign of an underlying psychological or physiological disorder.
I sure hope I don’t have any underlying psychological disorders. Whew, for some reason, a vacation just isn’t right if it isn’t ended with an all nighter. Okay, well not entirely, I did get to sleep 2 hours! Sigh..procrastination is very very very bad- I do feel the guilt and stress and the loss of productivity. Anyway, so you already know the regular defenition of the word, but did you know this:
The word itself comes from the Latin word procrastinatus: pro- (forward) and crastinus (of tomorrow). The term’s first known appearance was in the 17th century, during a sermon by a Reverend Anthoney Walker on procrastination. The sermon reflected procrastination’s connection at the time to task avoidance or delay, volition or will, and sin.
Interesting eh?
wow…. where do you come up with this information??? i must be a really bad info finder if i can’t find any information whatsoever, unless your a uber good information finder???? then maybe that would even out.
